A Sentimental Journey was the theme of the Junior League of Long Beach's annual fundraising event,and what a fantastic night it was. The spotlight for the March 29 event was on Long Beach's rich history blended with the group's 76-year history of local community service.
Harking back to the time of what some call the greatest generation, the group raised approximately $45,000 for children in need as it hosted nearly 300 guests at the Reef restaurant.
40s attire and classic Andrews Sisters three-part harmony was accompanied by Big Band music presented by Bill Lovelace. The music brought the Women of World War II theme to life in such a wonderful way that many of the attendees were inspired to swing dance.
A beautiful and abundant display of silent auction items ranged from spa services and dinners at local restaurants to exquisite, vintage estate jewelry and weekend getaway trips in Southern California and beyond. Always an entertaining spectacle, the live auction really got guests excited and opening up their wallets for the cause.
